David Foureyes and I talked about the Living Green Expo this morning, and I want to say to everyone, "Check it out!"

I haven't hyped it too much because I won't be able to make it (on account of my stats presentation for grad school in Wisconsin on Saturday), but you bet I'd be there were I in the area this weekend.

What is living green all about?

Check out the earth friendly fashion show. Look, I'm not sacrificing fashion for sustainability, so they best figure out how to make gorgeous sustainable garments.

Being a sustainable agriculture gal, I wouldn't miss the food and agriculture area. We work with several of the crucial groups listed as resources. And let me tell you, these folks are bustin their butts. And no, they aren't all a bunch of hippies.

Could my lifestyle be more sustainable? You betcha. Sustainability is a evolving topic, and for most of us, it's a pretty big shift in mentality. Sure, I grew up growing an organic garden, composting, recycling (before it was picked up curbside), and reusing my lunch bags (pretty embarassing in the 80s), but I'm not an sustainability expert, and it's my fulltime job. At times, I'm downright UNsustainable.

But I care, and I'm trying.

Getting High

I read this interesting report by Kristi Goldade.

"It revealed that when participants were aware of the height, high ceilings activated abstract thinking and thoughts of freedom, whereas low ceilings activated concrete thinking and thoughts of confinement."

So why is it that I get so much free and abstract thinking done on long distance drives? My car ceiling is low. Is it the expansiveness of the highway stretching out in front of me?

Mine Eyes Have Seen the Writing on the Wall!!

It's true! When I put on my new glasses, I was able to read a sign on a wall across the street from my optician's office! For two years I have been walking around squinting, hoping I'd find those slick Gucci frames I lost. I finally admitted to myself that they were lost. *sigh*

I wanted to take the opportunity to give a shout-out to the folks at Specs Optical. Dr. Buchli was down-to-earth and a little goofy; he gave me the facts about my eyes without too much sterile bullshit. The sales staff, specifically Bonnie, spent 2 hours with me, consoling me about my car and doing a fashion show with me and about 50 frames.

gerg, the staff, and I settled on a groovy acetate and metal frame called "Paradis" by anne et valentin .
